Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) was founded by The Sole Spiritual Head of the Universe Leader Olumba Olumba Obu. Its first bethel (place of worship) established in a rented narrow apartment at No.8 Eton Street Calabar in the former Eastern Region, now Cross River State, of Nigeria in 1956. Due to its rapid growth, which is attributed to the fact that BCS physical manifestation came with new teaching and mode of worship, the new converts around soon found out that the doctrine satisfies their immediate spiritual needs and more people in Calabar embraced the Kingdom. As a result, the membership increased rapidly and it became imperative for BCS to relocate to a more spacious and conducive environment for its spiritual worship and other activities.
On 8th August, 1958 Brotherhood of the Cross and Star relocated from its cradle Bethel at No. 8 Eton Street Calabar to its first Chapel located at No. 26 Mbukpa Street, which is more spacious, in Calabar South, Cross River State, Nigeria. That date witnessed the first appearance of BCS members in white robes (soutane) and the relocation was marked with a solemn procession from 8 Eton Street to 26 Mbukpa Street, Calabar.
The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star was officially incorporated under the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1956 and the Certificate of Incorporation as a religious organisation was presented to the Board of Trustees on 25th March, 1964.
The World Headquarters (WHQs) of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is now located at No. 34 Ambo Street, Calabar South. BCS virtually recorded more growth than expected by Anthropologist and other religious denominations within Calabar. The spread to other States in Nigeria, countries in Africa and to countries like India, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Italy, America, West Indies, and Scandinavian countries is phenomenal as The Holy Father continues to evangelise the world through His children.
Presently BCS is building the Biblical Third Temple named OLUMBA’S SUPREME TEMPLE in line with revelations found In John Chapter 4 verse 21, 23-24, “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me the hour cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain worship, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father… But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”.
Remember our Lord Jesus Christ encounter with the woman of Samaria who refused to give Him water to drink on Mount Sinai where her forefathers worshipped God because he is not a Samaritan, as the Samarians have nothing in common with Jews. Our Lord Jesus Christ assured her that He has the living water which has more valued than her Well water. The water is the word of God that gives eternal life. On a more serious note, Our Lord Jesus Christ prophesied that the time will come when they shall no longer worship God in the sacred mountain or in the temple of Solomon at Jerusalem.
Today, the site of the first Mount of Harold’s Temple and the second Temple Mount of Solomon is in dispute, fiercely contested by Christians, Judaism and Muslims. The different faiths have their church, synagogue and mosque build for worship on the same mount. This is the fulfilment of prophesy of our Lord Jesus Christ that the temple where God will be worshipped in spirit and in truth will be relocated from Jerusalem at the appointed time which is now. Therefore the third sacred Temple Mount is here in Calabar Nigeria where Olumba’s Supreme Temple is being erected. The project was launched on 2nd April, 2016 to be completed in one year.
Olumba’s Supreme Temple would consolidate on the spiritual achievements of the previous Temples of ”Kings Solomon and Harold” and provide the spiritual needs of the true worshipers of God in a temple that cannot be destroyed as was the case with the first and second temples in Jerusalem.
